Important and possibly unique cobalt glazed wine ewer, with gold mounts. The blue or royal purple exterior is highlighted with delicately executed motifs, depicted through the use of over-glazed gold outlining. The collar, cap, and spout tip and stopper are all of gold or gold foil. Multiple gold colored chains are suspended from collar of the piece. The motifs that are typical of Indian royalty are seen seen in the sculpted bird-form spout cap, and in the gold ewer lid. 18th C. style and period, circa 1710. Identified by Chail of New York as K'and Hsi. This form is also seen throughout S.E. Asia. This form was also produced in China for the Dutch.Measurements 10 1/4'H x 8"W
